Greenspace in the Watershed

The health and vitality of our streams is directly connected to land use in the watershed. At Watersheds of South Pittsburgh we believe vacant lots are a valuable asset hidden in plain sight, waiting to be transformed into a community hub where the natural environment is embraced.

You can find us…

…In Clairton

The Clairton Community Farm is open for everyone to enjoy. You are likely to find crisp greens in the spring, juicy tomatoes and spicy peppers through the summer, or sweet apples and pears in the fall.

The excess produce we harvest is donated to Produce Marketplace just a few blocks away, where it will be kept fresh for everyone to enjoy — for free!

We are currently working towards more greenspace projects in Clairton. Stay tuned for what’s to come and join the CGWG to lend a hand.

…at Ansonia Place

Ansonia Place is a collection of empty parcels purchased by the City of Pittsburgh, as part of a FEMA buyout program, due to repeated flooding. Nestled between the South Bank T-Station, Saw Mill Run and Route 51, Ansonia Place is now Watersheds of South Pittsburgh’s priority site for greenspace development. We are currently focused on cleaning up the illegal dumping and littering taking place to improve conditions at the site.
